UP lands on Barron's list of world's most respected companies

Union Pacific Railroad last week announced it was named to a list of the "World's Most Respected Companies" by Barron's. The only railroad that made the list, UP is ranked No. 19 out of 100 large publicly traded companies.

Based on a rating system through which participants selected one of four statements that best reflected their view of a company, ranging from "highly respect" to "don't respect," more than 70 percent of the respondents indicated they either respect or highly respect UP, railroad officials said in a press release.

Since 2005, Barron's has surveyed institutional investors about their views of the world's 100 largest publicly traded companies, as measured by total stock market capitalization. The latest survey was conducted in part by Beta Research and drew responses from 101 investors.
