Union Pacific Railroad late last week announced appointments to its finance department, as well as the retirement of Vice President and Treasurer Mary Jones and Vice President-Tax Pat O'Malley.

The Class I has named Jon Panzer vice president and treasurer; Jennifer Hamann vice president-planning and analysis; and Bryan Clark, vice president-tax, according to a UP press release.

Currently serving as vice president-planning and analysis, Panzer will succeed Jones, who will retire Dec. 1. During his 27-year career, Panzer previously held positions in investor relations, financial analysis and UP's intermodal, streamline and chemicals group in marketing and sales.

Jones, who has served 37 years at UP and 18 years as treasurer, will help transition the vice president and treasurer responsibilities as senior vice president-finance.

Most recently, Hamann served as vice president and general manager-automotive. She has been with the company for 25 years, serving in investor relations, corporate audit and human resources.

Clark will succeed O'Malley, who will retire Nov. 30 after 33 years with the company. Clark currently serves as assistant vice president-federal tax, and has held key finance positions in tax during his 24 years with the company.

O'Malley has been vice president-tax for seven years. From January 2011 until September, he was chairman of the Association of American Railroads' Tax Policy Committee.

"Jon, Jennifer and Bryan bring a wealth of experience, offering a wide range of advantages supporting Union Pacific's commitment to create value for our customers and great financial returns for our shareholders," said Union Pacific Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Rob Knight. "We wish Mary and Pat the best in retirement and thank them for their many significant contributions to Union Pacific’s financial success."
