UP budgets $34.7 million for projects in Missouri, Wisconsin

Union Pacific Railroad recently announced its 2018 capital expenditure programs for Missouri and Wisconsin.

In Missouri, the Class I will spend $25 million on a range of initiatives, including $15 million to maintain track and $7 million to maintain bridges in the state.

Key projects in Missouri in 2018 will include a $4 million investment to replace 23,515 ties and install 10,792 tons of ballast between Jefferson City and California, and a $1.8 million investment in the rail bridge in Polo.

Meanwhile, in Wisconsin, UP will spend $8.7 million to maintain track and $1 million to maintain bridges in the state.

UP's key projects in the Badger State this year will feature $3 million to replace more than 28,000 ties on the rail line between Woodville and just west Friendship; $2.2 million to improve crossings between Kenosha and St. Francis; and $1 million to replace 8,000 ties between Tunnel City and Wyeville.

Over the past five years, UP has invested more than $75.7 million in Wisconsin and $292 million in Missouri to improve the raliroad's infrastructure.
