Union Pacific Railroad yesterday recognized 12 customers and suppliers with the Class I's first 2023 Sustainability Partner Award, which honors business partners that demonstrate leadership and progress toward achieving sustainability goals.
The award was open to all UP customers and suppliers and was based on a company's sustainability efforts, including the use of innovative business practices to reduce the company's environmental impact. Also considered was a company's track record of engaging and collaborating with communities, business partners and other key stakeholders.
"These companies share Union Pacific's drive and commitment to finding sustainable ways of doing business that positively impacts our communities, employees and customers, while building a more sustainable tomorrow,” said UP President Beth Whited in a press release.
Recognized by UP as "customer winners" were Cemex, CF Industries, Dow, Freeport-McMoRan, Hapag-Lloyd and Owens Corning.
Recognized as supplier winners were: Arcadis, Jacobs, Konecranes, Trinity, Wabtec and WSP.
The winners were honored at an awards ceremony held yesterday at Union Pacific Center in Omaha, Nebraska, where they were given a chance to share their sustainability initiatives and projects.
