Evergreen Shipping honors UP as 2013's railroad of the year

Union Pacific Railroad recently received the 2013 Railroad Company of the Year Award from Evergreen Shipping Agency (America) Corp.

The award recognizes suppliers' and vendors' efforts to provide superior service and maintain high performance levels. Evergreen honored UP for its excellence in quality and service, commending the railroad’s support that allows the company to provide exceptional service to its customers, UP officials said in a press release. Evergreen is the North American general agent for ocean carriers Evergreen Marine, Italia Marittima and Hatsu Marine.

"We are honored to receive the 2013 Railroad Company of the Year Award," said John Kaiser, UP's vice president and general manager of intermodal. "We remain committed to supporting Evergreen with the utmost customer service and transportation offerings tailored to its success."

The railroad offers door-to-door and ramp-to-ramp services to provide customers access to markets throughout North America, with the flexibility to move freight in rail-owned shipping containers or private equipment, UP officials said. The Class I also offers less-than-truckload options for small shipments.
