The performance awards keep coming for Union Pacific Railroad. Yesterday, the Class I announced it received the 2013 Award for Logistics Excellence in customer service from Toyota Logistics Services.

The award, which UP earned for the sixth consecutive year, recognizes a rail carrier that provides superior customer service to Toyota. Customer service is scored according to rate communication, equipment supply, responsiveness, collaboration, business controls and overall ease of doing business. The Logistics Excellence awards recognize outstanding performances by all logistics suppliers, including railroads, trucking firms and marine companies.

The automaker honored UP for its ability to provide "unmatched customer service by offering all-encompassing support and creative transportation solutions," as well as its strong commitment to shipment quality, UP officials said in a press release.

"This award reflects the high priority we place on consistently providing exceptional service and value to our customers through sharing best practices and innovative transportation solutions," said Linda Brandl, the Class I's vice president and general manager-automotive.

UP also recently received the 2013 Railroad Company of the Year Award from Evergreen Shipping Agency (America) Corp. and the 2013 Rail Carrier of the Year Award from WWL Vehicle Services Americas.
