Union Pacific Railroad late last week announced Senior Vice President of Corporate Relations and Chief Administrative Officer Scott Moore will retire Oct. 1.

He currently is responsible for public affairs, corporate communications and all executive services, including Union Pacific's heritage fleet. Moore also serves as president of the Union Pacific Foundation.

He joined UP in 2000 as director of government affairs. Moore later served stints as assistant VP of public partnerships and VP of public affairs in the Western Region based in Roseville, California. He became SVP of corporate relations and CAO in 2015.

“Scott has shown strategic vision and unwavering leadership as he guided his teams and the company through monumental change,” said UP CEO Jim Vena in a press release. “His passion and commitment have played an important role in galvanizing the railroad's reputation for Building America. I couldn't be more grateful for Scott and his contributions over his longtime career.”

Moore began his railroad career 23 years ago after a long career in politics. He represented Nebraska's 24th legislative district from 1987 to 1994 and served two terms as Nebraska's secretary of state from 1994 to 2000.
