UP budgets $113 million for Kansas track, bridge work

Union Pacific Railroad announced yesterday its 2018 capital expenditure program includes $113 million for track and bridge maintenance in Kansas.

The Class I will spend $80 million to maintain railroad track and $8.6 million to maintain bridges in the state this year, according to a UP press release.

Key projects will include $20 million to replace 42 miles of rail between Paola and Parsons; and $12 million to replace 126 miles of rail between Minneola and Liberal.

Over the past five years, UP has invested more than  $421 million on its infrastructure in Kansas.
