UP outlines $87 million capex plan for Louisiana

Union Pacific Railroad's capital expenditures program this year will include $87 million for track and bridge maintenance projects in Louisiana.

The 2018 capex plan includes $48 million for track and $18 million for bridge maintenance in the state, UP announced Monday in a press release.

Key projects will include $16 million to replace 149,977 railroad ties and install 56,869 tons of ballast on the line between Alexandria and Shreveport, and $12 million to replace 82,152 railroad ties and install 39,693 tons of ballast on the line between Luling and Livonia.

Over the past five years, UP has spent more than $396 million on transportation infrastructure in Louisiana.
