Union Pacific Railroad Dec. 4 announced its second 2001 top ranking in a national magazine, this time earning a top-20 spot in Money magazine's best company benefits survey.
Companies were ranked on the generosity of non-union benefit plans for mid- to senior-level managers with 20 years' experience, the cost of health-care premiums, the number of available health plans, vacation benefits and pensions.
"[The ranking] reaffirms the company's own benchmarking efforts that indicate UP offers an affordable benefits package that helps attract and retain top talent," said Roy Schroer, UP assistant vice president of employee benefits, in a prepared statement.
UP — which placed 18th out of 75 ranked Fortune 200 companies — obtained high scores for its pension, medical, vacation and 401(k) benefits.
The Class I earlier this year was named one of the top-100 companies for working mothers by Working Mother magazine.
