UP's Bolin to succeed Rock as VP-external relations

Union Pacific Corp. has named Printz Bolin vice president-external relations, effective Dec. 1. He will succeed Mike Rock, who will retire Feb. 15, 2019, after 29 years of service at the Class I.

Currently assistant VP-external relations, Bolin will continue to work out of UP's office in Washington, D.C., when he starts his new role, UP officials said in a press release.

He will be responsible for keeping people on Capitol Hill informed about issues related to transportation and railroading, including economic and safety regulation, passenger rail and Amtrak, security, labor, state-specific issues and other projects.

Bolin joined UP in 1991 and was appointed to his current position in 2008.

"Printz brings a wealth of experience, building and maintaining relationships on The Hill that help inform elected officials and their staffs about key issues and legislation that could impact our business," said UP Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Lance Fritz. "We wish Mike the best in retirement and thank him for his leadership and many contributions to Union Pacific's success."
