Union Pacific honors CEO Excellence Award winners

Union Pacific Railroad this week announced the winners of its first CEO Excellence Awards program, which recognized the employees who contributed to the railroad’s performance in 2024.

Employees were recognized in nine award categories related to UP's performance: safety, service, people, asset utilization, cost leadership, growth and best performing transportation, mechanical and engineering teams.

A cross-departmental committee selected 41 individual recipients from more than 200 submissions and used performance metrics to identify the best performing teams, ranging in size from 10 to 1,100 employees.

“It’s my honor to celebrate you and the people in your lives who made your success – and Union Pacific’s success – possible,” said UP CEO Jim Vena at the program.

Winning teams were given 11-pound trophies made from a slice of UP rail. A full list of winning teams and employees can be found here.
