Woman of Influence in Rail

Lisa Matta

Vice president, product management
Wi-Tronix

Job description: One of the four co-founders of Wi-Tronix in 2004, Lisa started as a project engineer, specializing in braking systems, cab signaling and user interfaces. Currently, she is leader of the product team, overseeing various projects focused on those areas.

Why she's influential in technology: Lisa is a leader in driving the importance of remotely monitoring devices. She is on a team of four members that invented a device that detects mobile-device usage to ensure that conductors and engineers pay attention to their surroundings and remain in compliance. This technology, along with remote downloads of data, improves railroad safety, potentially saving lives. Lisa gives presentations on this technology to various railroads, customers and future engineers. In 2024, she gave a presentation at APTAtech on advanced technology and AI for safer rail and transit systems. Lisa volunteers her time with the Chicago Engineering Chapter of Tau Beta Pi to network and collaborate with students and alumni at the annual convention.
