Job description: Over her more than two decades at the MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), Lori has climbed the ladder to her current role as vice president and chief safety officer of the corporate safety team.
Why she's influential as a leader: Lori was instrumental in establishing the LIRR's confidential close-call reporting system, as well as the railroad's environmental, health and safety software used to manage accident/incident reports and regulatory compliance. She helped connect LIRR with the Waze app to provide hazard alerts in an effort to reduce vehicle-train incidents at crossings.
She has been honored with numerous safety awards related to risk management, employee engagement, labor management partnerships and community education and outreach. She has built a strong team by practicing an open communication style and creating a supportive environment where people feel valued and empowered to contribute.
