Andersons Rail Group's 2005 ledger shows revenue and income gains

Yesterday, The Andersons Inc. reported fourth-quarter net income of $15.3 million and total revenue of $384 million compared with net income of $8.3 million and total revenue of $370 million in fourth-quarter 2004. For the full-year, the company earned net income of $26.1 million and generated revenue of $1.3 billion compared with 2004’s $19.1 million in income and $1.27 billion in revenue.
The Andersons Rail Group more than tripled quarterly operating income to $9.5 million and more than doubled revenue to $33.5 million compared with fourth-quarter 2004. For the full year, the group earned income of $22.8 million and generated revenue of $92 million compared with 2004’s $11 million in income and $59.3 million in revenue. The group reported annual gains on the sale of certain rail cars and higher income from fabrication and car repair shops.
In addition, the group operated a fleet of 19,000 rail cars at 2005’s end compared with 14,600 cars a year earlier.
The Andersons Rail Group provides rolling stock leasing and management, and car repair services, supplies rail components and fabricates steel.
