Montana park receives $750,000 grant to redevelop rail spur

The U.S. Economic Development Administration has approved a $750,000 grant to build a new rail spur at the Lincoln County Port Authority's Kootenai Business Park in Libby, Mont.

The spur will connect to the BNSF Railway Co. main line.

The existing spur is no longer functional and is considered unsafe, according to U.S. Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.), who announced the grant late last week.

"Completion of the new rail spur will assure current businesses in the Kootenai Business Park that economic rail transportation will be available to them, and is considered vital to attract new business with good-paying jobs," Daines wrote in an April 25 letter in support of the project.
