The rail supply industry continues to share recent developments:

• SKF has supplied axleboxes and tapered roller bearings for railjet trains Siemens plc is building for the Austrian Federal Railways. SKF produced the axleboxes in Austria and the tapered roller bearings in Italy. Railjet premium-class train service will launch later this year between Budapest and Munich via Vienna; Vienna-to-Zurich service will start next year.

• GE Equipment Services/Rail Services and GE - Asset Intelligence received UL-913 certification from MET Laboratories for the VeriWise® Rail system's temperature and impact sensors. GE also received the certification for a new-and-improved solar panel configuration designed to enable the device to be integrated with in-development sensors without compromising power quality. Using remote monitoring devices, sensors, algorithms, and satellite- and cellular-based communications networks, VeriWise Rail monitors a rail-car fleet's location and environmental conditions surrounding each car.

• Global Railway Industries Ltd. reported fourth-quarter revenue of $10.4 million vs. $7.6 million in fourth-quarter 2006. However, net earnings fell to $408,687 compared with $787,785 a year earlier. For the full year, the company reported revenue of $36.8 million (vs. $31.9 million in 2006) and net earnings of $3.3 million (vs. $3.2 million). Global Railway subsidiaries Bach-Simpson Corp., CAD Railway Industries Ltd., G&B Specialties Inc. and Prime Railway Services provide event recorder monitoring and control systems, train speedometers, track and signal products, rail gear, rail-car doors and replacement parts, and remanufacture locomotives, cars, power generation units and rail components.
